Arriving in Cappadocia was like stepping out of reality. I have wanted to visit the area ever since I saw an episode of getaway a few years ago where they were flying over the valleys in balloons. I knew I had to do it! Cappadocia lived up to my every expectation and a little more. The whole area is surrounded by caves that people used to live in. Many of the caves have been made into beautiful boutique hotels.

Ticking ballooning in CAppadocia off the bucket list
Ballooning is the thing to do in Cappadocia and the reason I wanted to visit. Yes it was a bit out of the budget but when you are in these amazing places sometimes you have to fork out the money to get to experience something incredible ( we just won’t eat for a few weeks to make up for it). 4 am and we were up ready to see cappadocia by air.
We hired bikes to explore the many valleys surrounding Cappadocia. We got lost in one valley and had to hike back out, luckily there was a random wooden ladder perched on the cliff leading out of the valley that brett could carry the bikes up, otherwise it was a long way out through the valley.
We probably did more pushing the bikes thanks actual riding. The ground was very sandy and slippery most of the way and after I slid down a hill with the bike falling on top of me I was a little cautious. Being a bit of an unco anyway I didn’t want to fall into a valley and have to embarrassingly get rescued.

The underground city
The following day we explored the underground city of kamakale. Similar to the cu chi tunnels in Vietnam, we had to crouch through narrown underground tunnels that led from room to room. These particular tunnels were 4 levels deep.
Exploring the Love Valley
After the tunnels we walked back to our hostel through the love valley, one of the many beautiful valleys in the area. After hitching a ride up the hill to the start point of the valley we walked for 2 and a bit hours through some stunning landscape.
