Laos-ing around

Sitting on the balcony of our $11 a night bungalow swinging in the hammock with a view over the emerald green Nam Ou river and impressive limestone cliffs. We have just woken up, walked down the road to have a delicious Laos coffee to prepare us for a day of exploring the cute sleepy town of Nong Khiaw. We arrived last night from Luang Prabang and while Nong Khiaw is no longer exactly off the tourist trail the quaintness of the town nestled amongst the mountains give you the feeling you are in the middle of no where. We have been travelling for 4 weeks today. The time has flown by and we have been on the go since we left, travelling long bus rides from town to town around Vietnam, battling with scooters and carrying our 15kg packs up and down streets trying to find our accommodation, and then we arrived in Laos. It’s a beautiful country with so much to see and while I sit here in the hammock thinking about all the places we have to explore around this little town knowing it’s the perfect place to wear in my brand new hiking boots before our hiking trip to Nepal, I can’t help but think I don’t want to move from my hammock. I could sit here all day and embrace the lazy sleepy culture of Laos.
