We flew into Cartagena, the flights were cheaper than a bus and only took us 1 hour, instead of the overnight bus we would have had to take from Medellin.
This colourful city is one of my favourites to date. The beaches are nothing special, hardly worth a mention but wandering the streets of the multicoloured historic centre, sitting on the city walls for sunset with a cocktail or beer in hand and having street food dinners in the local squares made this city leave a pretty heavy footprint on our hearts.
We spent a total of seven days in Cartagena, a couple nights in a hostel before heading to Tyrona national park and a few nights in a hotel that we splurged on when a bit of travellers fatigued set in on our return to Cartagena. The perfect place to recover and find our love of travel again.
